The Public Schools of Brookline makes every effort to provide interpretation and translation services to parents/guardians whose primary language is not English. With adequate notice (approximately two weeks), the district can provide for more than 75 languages. The district provides such services for meetings and important school/district documents. Please see the information below about how to request an interpreter and/or translation.
1. A teacher, dean, guidance counselor, nurse, or other staff member may request a meeting with a parent/guardian. Inform the person who has asked you to meet that you would like an interpreter and specify the language and dialect, if applicable.
2. A teacher, dean, guidance counselor, nurse, or other staff member may send you an important document. Inform the person who sent you the document that you would like a translated version and specify the language and dialect, if applicable.
OR
3. Contact the Office of English Learner Education (ELE) to make a request yourself. When you e-mail the program assistant, please indicate the type of service you would like (interpreter or translation) and specify the language and dialect, if applicable. If you are requesting a translation of a document, please attach the document to the email.
Please contact the ELE office if you have any questions and/or comments about interpretation and translation services provided by the Public Schools of Brookline. We look forward to serving you!
